On June 20 th the United States Supreme Court rendered its decision in Turner v. Rogers . The case surrounded the issue of whether indigent child support payers should be provided legal counsel prior to incarceration. Florida attorney Sam Assini joined Marti Ryan, Save the Turnips program director, to discuss this decision during July's 'Save the Turnips' blog talk radio broadcast. Termination of support based on DNA
New Texas Law - 2011
Senate Bill 785 has passed through both the House and Senate and was sent to the Governor for signature on April 20th, 2011. This bill will Amend the Family Code and allow the termination of an order establishing a Dad based on the results of genetic testing that excludes that Dad as the child's genetic father. This new law should take effect September 1st, 2011.
